First marketing book you should read: just one annoyance
By Carlo Bazzo
As I first got interested in marketing I started to browse several marketing books, particularly those about the process of writing a marketing plan. Now after a bit of experience I understand I should have started with this book. Maybe it is not the most practical, operational, pragmatic book out there but in the long run you will find yourself reading it and reading it again. If your only scope is to write down a marketing plan and you have no idea about what a marketing plan is, maybe there are some better books written in the "marketing plans in 24 hour" style.
But if you want to understand what is marketing, the core marketing, and I personally suggest this grounds-up approach, this is a reference book you can not miss. Now the annoyance: at the end of each chapter you find "Application questions", "Review" and "Excercises" which are the real plus of the book. Unfortunately if you want to access the online instructor resources, Wiley wants you to register but your registration data has to be evaluated from a Wiley "supervisor": well, he or she argued the fact I am CTO in a consulting company involved with marketing training was not enough and my request was refused.
Maybe Wiley thinks you need a Ph.D from MIT to read this book but don't trust them: this is the first book you should read before starting off your marketing journey.

Marketing Plans: How to Prepare Them, How to Use Them
By Sarah MFA student
This was not a helpful book for my purposes. This is a book about big corporation marketing. But I needed to know more about general small business marketing. So it wasn't helpful at all. Not to mention that formatting of this book was absolutely horrid. It made it even harder to read because there were times there are no spaces between punctuation and words. There was so much I didn't like about this book. We'll just leave it at that.

It is a fairly hefty book, but well worth ready every page.
With clear explanations, examples and exercises it has helped me in my Margeting role and I have even used it for my Digital Marketing website;
