A very easy diet to lose weight and not to cheat on.

I had previously tried the Dukan Diet and found it very effective in losing weight. The problem is that until you reach your target weight ("true weight" in Dukanese) you have to stick to pretty strict rules of the "Cruising Phase" that exclude certain categories of food (fruit, starch foods, etc). This makes it extremely difficult to stay on the wagon for over a few weeks, phenomenal weigh-loss notwithstanding.
The 7 Steps (aka DD2) addresses this problem by including forbidden items such as fruit, whole-wheat bread and whole week pasta on some days from the very first week. One may even have a "celebration meal" every Sunday with virtually no restrictions. From my experience, loss is only marginally slower than under he original Dukan, but one is hardly tempted to ever cheat. Towards the end of each week there is little loss (of even a slight gain), but if you stick to the rules you will probably lose everyday of a Week-on-Week (WoW) basis. For what its work, I also discussed the plan with my family doctor who gave his wholehearted blessings (which he had not done for the original Dukan program).
Again, based on my personal experience over c. 3 weeks, I would wholeheartedly recommend the book and teh diet.

My roommate has been doing the original Dukan diet with great results. I attempted to do it with her but unfortunately did not have her discipline. But this new 7 step Dukan diet is right up my street! I've been doing it for over 2 weeks and I absolutely love it! I don't feel deprived and every day I am excited to add something new into my diet. I'm also not inclined to cheat either. On Sunday's you are allowed a celebration meal anyway :)
It's not as rigid as the original so I don't feel like I am dieting. Just eating healthy. I don't weigh myself but I can absolutely swear I've lost weight. My clothes fit me so much better and I don't feel bloated at all. In fact I've been getting a lot of compliments. The lbs are melting off! I'm wearing skinny jeans again!
I absolutely recommend this book if you want something less rigid than the original diet. Also, if you mess up a day Dukan says don't worry about it. Just continue with the plan and add whatever food you are supposed to on the next day. For instance, let's say you go crazy on dessert on a Wednesday. Pretend like it didn't happen and just continue on the plan. Oftentimes when I've tried a diet (like Hcg or keto-adaptation) I feel like I've totally screwed up. But Dukan takes that guilt away from you. Because there isn't as much pressure, I actually have not strayed at all! Highly recommended :)

18 days in, 7.6# GONE, 5.5" GONE *This plan is AWESOME & sustainable!* Nothing to lose but excess, nothing to gain but health!

Received this book on May 5th, began the *plan* May 6th. I did not wait for a Monday.
I had seen & read raves about the original plan (also ordered that book for reference) but instinctively knew that it wouldn't be something I could live with for the rest of my life. As I read about *this* one, however, it struck a chord. THIS was/*is* a plan I can follow for *life*, for my health!
Being both menopausal & overweight, getting results from anything would be an uphill battle, I felt. Not true!!! This doc/nutritionist is committed to breaking the addiction to sugar(s). To my utter surprise, the plan is easy to follow & I have never felt deprived or hungry! Just knowing that there is *one* celebration MEAL included each week was & is a comfort. Anybody can do *any*thing for one day, so this whole plan makes sense. Each day builds on the one before it.
I'm grateful that Dr.Dukan *followed up* on the results of his wildly successful original plan & realized it led to carb craving (if I understood correctly) & he set out to counteract that after *years* of tracking those things. This just gradually instills healthier options & choices, & the subtle changes lead to lifestyle changes!
It's very empowering to measure yourself & see INCHES gone & to FEEL so much better. Hadn't realized quite how lousy I felt until I started this new way of life & noticed so much more energy.
Do yourself a favor! You owe it to yourself to read this book & to determine if it's the right plan for you!
