Meh...long long long paper!

Overall presentation of content was okay. The color pictures of finished curlicue's are beautiful (like the cover). The diagrams on how to get there are just so-so. Be warned this is NOT your typical origami using squares of paper. This type of work will require LONG strips of tapered or rectangular pieces of paper. The more detailed the design (which is essentially a repeating process), the longer the sheet of paper. A basic model with a very simple design starts with a 30cm x 5cm x 1cm tapered strip.

Author recommends strong wrapping paper (which may be fun for Christmas designs), but finding dual-sided wrapping paper can be a hassle, and accurately cutting very long tapered strips of paper also very problematic.

I believe the concept is entertaining. But due to the length of paper required and the accuracy of folds to produce a solid project, this is focused on the advanced paper folder (not due to complexity - just due to the accuracy required to do it right). If you are up for the challenge, I think the outcome would be rewarding. I'm just not convinced yet that the time to get the paper cut to the right shape and taper is worth the headache...We'll see.

Amazing book!

I purchased this book from Amazon this month and it is a great book to buy for beginners as well as for those who are familiar with Origami. The book details a new technique if folding - curclicue - which is very well explained and has easy to follow instructions. Instructions are accompanied with color photographs of the finished designs. Tips on cutting the paper is also given. The most important thing to know when folding these designs is the accuracy in cutting the paper and the colors of paper used. Using contrasting colored paper will make a world of a difference to your finished model. This book is absolutely fun!

An amazing and creative book

The Curlicue design of Assia Brill is a unique form of "twisted" origami. It's quite amazing what a few creases in a strip of paper can produce! It twists and turns and seems to have a life of its own. The book itself is beautiful throughout with many amazing images to inspire you to try harder. Once you have made the basic design, there are a myriad of variations to try your hand at. You will need to fold carefully and accurately to come even close to the models folded by Assia, but the results will be worth the effort.

I have enjoyed perusing this book, which also has a captivating secondary title: Make Your Strategy Come Alive.

The strength of this book lies in its simplicity & clarity, with a powerful focus on strategy implementation. It has a zany layout with catchy graphics & varied fonts throughout to draw your attention (& fuel your thinking) to many practical tools & strategies for managers & executives who want to succeed in one of the most critical challenges in the current business environment - strategy implementation!

This book shows what really works & how to make it work for your company.

I am very impressed by its unique guide to strategy implementation, called The Implementation Compass. This alone is worth the price of the book. There are also best practice case studies, plus practical tips & powerful techniques.

From personal & professional experience, I note that formulating strategy is generally not a difficult endeavour, but executing strategy is far harder & often takes massive, persistent & consistent efforts to put it to work. In this respect, the author has done a great service for all of us. To use the author's opening tag line: "Only a successful implementation will power a strategy forward." No doubt about it!

All in all, there are fourteen well-written chapters. They have been systematically sequenced for easy & convenient perusal. Each is a real gem on its own, packed with tips on what works & what to avoid. They end with a useful glossary & a condensed chapter-by-chapter book summary.

Compared to two earlier books I have read within the same genre, namely, 'Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done' by Larry Bossidy & 'A Bias for Action' by Hieke Bruch, the intellectual intensity in 'Bricks to Bridges' is generally lighter, but there is no sacrifice in content relevancy. In fact, I would still recommend readers to explore the two earlier books. Their respective real-life stories & indepth assessments are really worth your while!

I wish to add that many of the strategies & tools in 'Bricks to Bridges' can be easily adapted ...with a little bit of ingenuity, of course!..for personal use as individuals also have the same problems & need a powerful solution.

I remember vividly what Joel Arthur Barker, futurist & author of Future Edge, once said (roughly): "Vision without action is day dreaming. Action without vision is random activity. With vision & action together, you can change the world!"

Good exercises, spectacular concentration lesson.

I was quite cold with the exercises presented in this book, thinking that I achieved on my own a better routine of the one outlined here, and wanting more. There is a staggering abundance of typos, which also detracted from the beauty of this short manual, but I was granted something magic, despite my arrogant impatience: the last lesson is of a different nature, and it is worth infinitely more than I could render with words. Being humbled by Swami Yogananda's knowledge is a welcomed, true gift. Thank You.

When in the early part of the twentieth century Paramahansa Yogananda discovered the principles of Energization, he was probably the first to spread the practical teachings and applications in the West. The theory and the techniques are carefully and clearly explained. From personal experience I can say they work and helped me reverse a condition that was diagnosed as osteo arthritis. Instead of taking the medication prescribed, I remembered the Energization Exercises. Within the first week of practice I obtained dramatic results that have not returned after ten years.
The Energization Exercises also work very well as a prelude for meditation. The science of pranayama is based on the realization of these principles and Paramahansa Yogananda's Energization Exercises facilitate the personal understanding of a simple but important fact: prana follows thought.
This is an excellent exposition without equal since inception!

I purchased this book through e-reader and find it difficult to follow the exercises in e-reader format. It would be best to read in a book format to view the diagrams and follow the yogoda exercises.
